The youngest of eight siblings, Xavier’s only parent figures have been male, his father (who was killed in the war when he was seven) and his eldest brother Lawrence, who was forced to care for the entire family after this tragic loss. Xavier, perhaps the brightest and most gifted of all the children, always chose to follow in his brother’s footsteps (instead of becoming a brilliant scientist or doctor as was expected). He had decided early on to remain close to Lawrence and often preferred the comfort of his eldest brother’s shadow. It was Xavier who first stumbled upon a rare piece of scripture (interpreted in a fashion that had never been done before and only by the virtue of his unique skills). This scripture revealed some interesting truths about the last days on Earth. When he revealed his discovery to Lawrence both men began to realize how close to the end they might actually be. They tried to prepare people – but no one would have anything to do with them and they found themselves in a very difficult position – do they warn the world, knowing all to well that this would result in them losing their jobs, or do they keep quite and let the world fall into chaos un-notified… they chose the latter. But it was over fear of losing their positions at the university. They knew people would panic and the chaos would only be exasperated by word of their knowledge. They told a few of their close friends and family – allowing those few their dignity. On “the day” they were shocked to find out that they were not amongst the chosen – seeing as most of the world’s population had been chosen. But they never lost their faith.
