Mrs. Reynolds gave up a very promising career in fashion design when she met her husband Bill and together they chose to start a family. Mrs. Reynolds has always had a deep seeded resentment towards her husband for giving up her dreams – and the fact that he gave up his dreams too. As much as she loved her son, she always had a slight resentment for him as well, although she would never admit it. But on “the day” when Derrick left them to join the sea of people streaming towards the ocean, Mrs. Reynolds began to be consumed with guilt for having blamed her son for her life choices. Both Reynolds were helpless to stop their son as he vanished into the crowd of thousands that left that day. For the past one hundred years Mrs. Reynolds has dwelled in an almost catatonic state, remorseful and depressed choosing to wallow in her loss and longing for the past. Her only sign of life comes when Steven and his friends show up on the Reynolds doorstep looking for a little boy. This news awakens Mrs. Reynolds maternal instincts and she too feels a renewed sense of purpose. It also revealed through Mrs. Reynolds that people once again are becoming mortal.
